Montana Hunting License
Montana's licensing process can feel complicated, especially for first-time nonresident hunters. Here's what you need to know before your hunt.
What You'll Need
You'll need a nonresident Montana hunting license through the General Big Game Combo. Applications are handled directly through Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.
Apply at fwp.mt.gov →April 1
Application deadline for the season you plan to hunt
A Quick Note
Since license requirements and the application process can change year to year, we recommend applying directly through FWP's website rather than relying on outdated instructions elsewhere. If anything looks different than expected when you get there, their team can walk you through it.
