North Yellowstone Outfitters
In 1976, Bill Hoppe established North Yellowstone Outfitters and built the business around a simple idea—keep it small, guide hunters personally, and create the best possible hunt for each individual.
Bill has spent decades guiding hunters in Montana. His son also guided alongside him for years, continuing the family tradition even though he did not become an outfitter.
A Family Tradition Since 1870
The Hoppe family’s outfitting and guiding tradition in Montana dates back to 1870. For six generations, our family has worked with horses, hunters, and elk, building a deep connection to the land and a knowledge that only comes from time spent in the field.
Generations change, but the values stay the same: know the country, work hard, take care of your horses, respect the game, and treat people right.
Bill & Brian
Today, Bill runs North Yellowstone Outfitters with his grandson and co-owner, Brian Hoppe.
Brian grew up around the business, the horses, and the country. He is a seventh-generation Montanan and is preparing to carry the family tradition into its next chapter.
The transition happens gradually, with years of experience passed down the right way—outside, in the field, and one hunt at a time.

Respect for the Country
We believe in fair-chase hunting, respect for private land, ethical shot selection, and proper care of the animal. How the hunt is conducted matters just as much as the outcome.
Small by Design
We keep our operation intentionally small so we can give every hunter the time, attention, and experience they deserve.
