The Hunt
District 540, either sex, no public pressure
We hunt private ranch leases in the Little Belt Mountains near Martinsdale, Montana, in hunting district 540, where either sex is legal under the general elk tag. The leases hold strong resident elk herds that use the country for their mating and winter ground, and they see no public hunting pressure.
Rifle hunts run five full days. We take four hunters a week, occasionally five when a family or group hunts together. Hunts are conducted on horseback, on foot, or by vehicle, matched to your ability and to what the elk are doing.
Archery hunts are also tailored to the individual hunter, terrain, and conditions.
